Leap of Faith

You've got your swimming suit, you have plenty of sunscreen on, you even have a floating device on your person, but yet, you are still on the boat, waiting for something. But what? You look back to the driver of the boat and then back at the water, like the water is going to move somewhere without you. But why are you still holding back? You know how to swim. I want to tell you about a thing about a leap of faith. Life, just like the water, is waiting for you to "Jump!". You can say that your are a Christian all your life without ever having a leap of faith. You could put one foot in the water, but that isn't really giving it your all. Getting into unknown waters in life can be dangerous, but in the end it is worth it. Having a leap of faith is not "testing the waters" or  "putting one foot in and then MAYBE the other one". Having a leap of faith is getting a running start and going for it, with both feet and arms in the air, and a smile on your face. Hold your breath and get ready to hit the water.

But this is only the beginning. You just don’t start floating as soon as you hit the water. When you jump that big leap of faith, and your first start to hit the water, there is no going back to the boat. There is no "undo" button. Once you're in the water, give it a while for you to come to the surface, don't get nervous that you haven't hit the top  yet. Don't expect instant results.

Once you have your head above the water, it has just begun. You might have trouble every once in a while with the tide of life, but that is what your life preserver is for. And remember you are not alone. God is with us everywhere we go. As you can tell, I'm no longer talking about going boating with some of your friends. I am talking about the leap of faith of giving your life to Christ. 

I know all of us are at different points in life, some of us are already in the water, some of us are just jumping into the water, some of us are just surfacing. But one thing we all have in common, at one point in our lives, we were the little girl on the boat, looking back at the driver. 

So clearly, we are not alone in this swim we call life. So you can always reach out for help. No one is pointing fingers, no one is poking fun at you. So, go ahead, jump. Go. And if you have already jumped, keep going. It will get better, trust me and trust in Him. 

In Matt 14:28-31 The disciple Peter said to the person he saw walking on the water, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." So Jesus said “come”. Peter focusing on Jesus had faith to walk on water. But after he turned his attention to the circumstances around him Peter then began to sink. 
Jesus said, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" 
You could say Peter took a leap of Faith when he jumped out of the boat and began walking on water. Peter, an imperfect man, walked on water like Jesus did. 

Hebrews 11 

1 1-2 The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd. 
3 By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see. 
5-6 By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. 
7 By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land.

8-10 By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. 

29 By an act of faith, Israel walked through the Red Sea on dry ground. The Egyptians tried it and drowned. 
30 By faith, the Israelites marched around the walls of Jericho for seven days, and the walls fell flat.
